Founded in 2009 in Tokyo, PICUS creates functional accessories made of brass, copper, wood, and leather. Its founder describes his designs as “antiques of the future” – objects that mature over time and become part of our everyday rituals. As the years pass, they subtly change in appearance, gaining depth and traces of use, so that each piece develops its own character and becomes a record of its owner’s daily life.

This card case is crafted from a combination of brass and handmade Mino Tezuki Washi paper, produced from kozo fibers in Japan’s Gifu Prefecture. This traditional papermaking technique, recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, has long been a symbol of Japanese craftsmanship. Each sheet of washi is coated with urushi lacquer and persimmon tannin, giving it a deep color, subtle sheen, and distinctive texture.

The irregular surface, gentle luster of the lacquer, and raw beauty of brass create an object that gains elegance and depth over time. Every piece is unique – a small expression of the wabi-sabi philosophy, where beauty lies in simplicity, time, and imperfection.

We offer free international delivery on orders of a minimum value of 150 EUR.

Personal pickup is also available at no extra charge at our store in Kraków, Limanowskiego 18, Monday to Friday: 12:00-18:00, Saturday: 12:00-16:00.
